Deboss, Emboss & Foil
Raised, pressed and metallic finishes
Should I choose deboss, emboss or foil for my logo?
Choose deboss for a clean, pressed-in look on leather, journals and padfolios. Choose emboss for a raised, tactile logo with bold shapes. Choose foil stamping when you want shine and color contrast. Foil often looks the most eye-catching, while a blind deboss looks the most understated. Your material and logo detail decide the winner.

Debossing presses your design into a material so it sits below the surface. Embossing pushes the design up so it stands above the surface. Both use a metal die and pressure, and both can be done with or without color. Deboss means pressed in or sunken. Emboss means raised.
