Step by step

Design your product in 7 easy steps

Real screenshots of the designer on the 20 oz Streetwise Insulated Tumbler, with the logo centered in the imprint area mapped for that product. The buttons and labels are exactly what you will see on every product page that offers it.

  1. 1

Open the designer on any product

Find a product you like and click the green Preview Your Logo button under the product photos. You will also find Preview Your Logo on This Product further down the page. On apparel the button sits inside the blue Decoration Info card. No account and no software needed.

  2. 2

    Get to know the workspace

The designer opens over the page. On the left are the product Views, in the middle the canvas with Undo, Redo, delete and Zoom — and a dashed box marking the imprint area mapped for that exact product — and on the right the tool panel: Color, Your Logo, Text, Location, Imprint Method and the Imprint Area. The bar at the top keeps your quantity, unit price, ship date and total in view, with BUY NOW.

    Upload your logo

Drop your logo on Drop your logo here, or click to browse. PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, AI and EPS files are accepted (up to 20 MB for vector files, 5 MB for images). Your upload appears as a tile in Your Logo marked UP#1. Click the tile to place it on the product. Signed-in customers also see their saved brand logos (BD#) and every upload is kept in their artwork library.

  4. 4

Place it in the imprint area

Your logo lands centered in the dashed box — the imprint area mapped for that product. Drag it to move it and pull the round green handles to resize or rotate, keeping it inside the box for the best result. Use Zoom (up to 400%, or pinch on a trackpad) to line things up precisely. If your file has a white box behind the logo, the White background detected switch removes it instantly. Pick a Location (Front, Back, Left Chest and so on) when the product has more than one, and the Imprint Area box shows the maximum print size.

    Add text

Click Add text, then double-click the text on the canvas to type your own wording. Choose from 20 fonts, set the Size and Color, and switch on B, I or U. Every logo and line of text is listed under Layers, where you can hide, lock or delete it.

  6. 6

Choose the imprint method and preview it

Under Imprint Method, pick how it will be decorated — for example Pad Print, Laser Engraving or Embroidery. Each card shows the colors allowed and the setup fee. On laser products, select your logo or a line of text and click See Laser Engraving to see it cut into the surface. On embroidered apparel, click See it stitched for a photo-real embroidery preview. Both are optional and can be switched back at any time.

Three ways to decorate — previewed for real

Each example is a real capture from the designer, with the logo centered in the product's mapped imprint area. Drag the slider to compare your flat PNG with the finished look.

Pad Print

Pad printing — crisp spot color on curved products

A soft silicone pad picks ink off an etched plate and presses it onto the product, so it prints cleanly on curved surfaces. Each ink color is a separate pass, matched to your brand — here the Netflix logo in Netflix red.

  • Ideal for mugs, pens, stress balls, bottle openers and small items
  • Solid spot colors (the method card shows how many, e.g. Up to 2 colors)
  • The designer shows your artwork in the exact colors you upload

Laser Engraved

Laser engraving — your logo cut into the surface

A laser removes the top coating, so the mark is permanent and one color — bright metal on dark coatings, a darker burn on bare steel or wood. Select your logo or text and click See Laser Engraving.

  • Available on 1,400+ drinkware, metal and wood products
  • Works for logos and text; switch it off with Hide Engraving Effect

Embroidery

Embroidery — see every stitch before you order

Click See it stitched and your PNG is digitized into real stitches and rendered as a photo-real Wilcom TrueView™ image, with the stitch count, size and Isacord thread colors you can change.

  • On 9,000+ polos, tees, caps, outerwear and bags
  • This one: 3,096 stitches · 5 threads · 4.26″ × 0.92″ on the left chest

Tips

Get the best-looking preview

A few things our art team recommends before you click Save Design.

  • Use a transparent PNG or SVGHigh-resolution files with a transparent background look sharpest. If yours has a white box, use the White background detected switch.
  • Stay inside the dashed boxIt is the imprint area mapped for that product. Your logo starts centered in it — keep it inside for the best result.
  • Mind small textFine lines and tiny text can fill in when printed, engraved or stitched. Zoom in to check — very small text is the most common thing we adjust on proofs.
  • Check every locationIf you want a front and a back imprint, select each Location and place your artwork on both before saving.
  • Match your colorsChoose the product color in the Color swatches first, then pick imprint colors that contrast with it.
  • Save as you goSave Design gives you a Design ID. Guests can use Email me a link so nothing is lost.

FAQ

Online product designer questions

Is the online product designer free?

Yes. Designing, previewing effects and saving designs are free, with no software to install. You only pay when you order products.

Do I need an account to use it?

No. Guests can design on any product. To keep a design, either sign in or create a free account (it is saved to My Saved Designs), or click Email me a link and we will send a link to your design that stays valid for 30 days.

Which file types can I upload?

PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, AI and EPS — up to 20 MB for vector files and 5 MB for images. For the sharpest result use a high-resolution PNG or an SVG with a transparent background.

What is the dashed box on the product?

It is the imprint area mapped for that exact product photo — where the decoration can actually go. Your logo is placed centered inside it; keep your artwork inside the box for the best result.

What is pad printing?

Pad printing transfers ink from an etched plate onto the product with a soft silicone pad, so it prints cleanly on curved surfaces like mugs, pens and stress balls. Each ink color is a separate pass, and colors can be matched to your brand — like Netflix red on a white mug.

What is the laser engraving preview?

On products decorated by laser engraving or etching, See Laser Engraving shows your logo or text as a one-color mark cut into the surface: light on dark coated products, darker on bare steel or wood. It is a visual preview only and does not change your artwork file.

Can I see what embroidery will look like?

Yes. On embroidered apparel, hats and bags click See it stitched for a photo-real stitched preview (a Wilcom TrueView render), including stitch count and Isacord thread colors you can change. See our embroidery guide for the full walkthrough.

Is the preview my final proof?

No. The designer shows an approximate preview so you can decide quickly. After you order, our art team prepares a professional proof and nothing goes into production until you approve it.

My logo has a white box around it. Can I remove it?

Yes. When the designer detects a white background it shows a switch that removes it instantly. For tricky images there is also a Deep removal (AI) option.

Does the designer work on my phone?

Yes. On phones and tablets the canvas sits on top and the tools slide underneath; pinch to zoom and drag to place your logo.

How do I reopen or reorder a saved design?

Signed-in customers find every design in My Saved Designs, where you can open it, add it to the cart, or combine several designs into an estimate or presentation.

Can I put my logo in more than one place?

Yes. When a product offers several imprint locations (for example Front, Back, Left Chest or Sleeve), choose each Location in the designer and place your artwork on each one before you save.

Ready to see your logo on it?

Pick any product, click Preview Your Logo, and you will have a preview in under a minute.
